Where Our Graduates Are Now The Department of Surgery is extraordinarily committed to excellence in education. Our residency and fellowship programs are committed to meeting and exceeding the ACGME requirements for the resident work environment. We are committed to recruiting a cadre of residents and fellows from diverse backgrounds and regions united by a common commitment to excellence. We seek an atmosphere of mutual respect in which faculty, medical students, residents and fellows work as colleagues. Our residents and fellows are paired with faculty advisors who serve as mentors. Numerous social events are held throughout the year to promote the sense of family within the Department. Residents who graduate from our program have an outstanding record of selection for the best fellowships in the most competitive subspecialties in surgery. Our residents and fellows have been remarkably successful in securing positions in academic departments and as leaders in the community practice of surgery.
