The Division of Transplantation provides state-of-the-art care to patients requiring kidney, pancreas and liver transplantation. The transplant program at the University of Cincinnati has a national and international reputation as a premier referral center, and innovative clinical and research initiatives in robotic-assisted surgery, islet cell transplantation and immunosuppression drugs offer new hope for these high-risk patients. The division is a leader in minimally invasive nephrectomy (kidney removal), immunosuppressive drug development, cancer and transplantation, steroid elimination, laparoscopic liver surgery, kidney exchange programs, and dialysis access research. The University of Cincinnati Liver Transplant Program, which recently performed its 500th liver transplant, is the busiest program in Ohio. A fellowship is available in transplant pharmacology (immunosuppression).
