The Division of Pediatric Surgery offers innovative treatment for childhood and adolescent injuries and diseases, including small-bowel transplants in infants with short-gut syndrome. A program is underway to perform complex suturing in procedures such as gastric bypass and other complicated pediatric surgical problems using robotic (computer-assisted) technology. Other minimally invasive surgical techniques and interdisciplinary collaborations provide state-of-the-art treatment to children from both the local and global communities. These unique capabilities have made the Pediatric Surgery Residency Training Program one of the top three programs in North America for pediatric surgeons.
