National Cancer Institute: What You Need to Know About™ Lung Cancer

The Division of Thoracic Surgery performs a wide variety of operative procedures in patients with diseases of the esophagus, lungs, and mediastinum, with minimally invasive and video assisted procedures performed frequently. The Division maintains an active clinical service at University Hospital and at the VA Medical Center. Collaboration with the Section of General Surgery involves the care of patients with esophageal disorders, especially carcinoma of the esophagus.

The Division continues to develop its expertise in research. Dr. Michael Reed was recently awarded an American Cancer Society Grant to study targets of retinoblastoma-mediated repression in lung cancer.
