The Department of Surgery continues its pursuit and application of innovations in clinical care, research, and education. This “triple threat” paradigm has enabled the Department to provide unique patient care which is recognized throughout the region as well as the nation. U.S. News & World Report has consistently ranked University Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and The Christ Hospital among the nation’s best hospitals. We offer a broad range of surgical services, many of them unique, including vascular, thoracic, cardiac, bariatric (obesity), liver, gastrointestinal, endocrine, colorectal, and urologic. Endovascular and minimally invasive surgery techniques, including robotic-assisted laparoscopic techniques, decrease length of stay and allow faster recovery and return to work. UC programs in organ transplantation for liver, kidney, pancreas, and heart are among the national leaders. Our cardiothoracic surgeons offer the latest treatments for lung cancer and mediastinal tumors. Our surgeons lead the fight against cancer and provide hope for patients with tumors of the liver and pancreas, stomach and intestine, skin cancer and melanoma, urologic tumors, and for those at high risk for breast cancer. The Pancreatic Disease Center attracts patients from all over the country seeking unique services such as islet-cell preservation to prevent surgical diabetes in chronic pancreatitis. We have expanded programs in cosmetic surgery at our dedicated cosmetic surgery center. We hope that you will review our clinical divisions to see evidence of our commitment to compassion, excellence, and innovations in patient care. |
