Residents, Fellowships & Advanced Training

The Surgical Education Program in the Department of Surgery continues to attract and train the best and brightest medical students and residents from around the country. We recruit residents and fellows from many backgrounds and regions, celebrating our diversity while sharing the common goal of clinical excellence, discovery of scientific knowledge and professional growth. We seek an atmosphere of mutual respect in which faculty, medical students, residents and fellows work as colleagues.

Our residents and fellows are paired with faculty advisors who serve as mentors. Numerous social events are held throughout the year to promote the sense of family within the Department. Residents who graduate from our programs have an outstanding record of selection for the best fellowships in the most competitive specialties in surgery. Our residents and fellows have been remarkably successful in securing positions in academic departments and as leaders in the community practice of surgery.
