Division of Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgery / Burn Surgery

The Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery / Burn Surgery offers expert care across the entire spectrum of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Collaborative efforts with other divisions contribute to improved patient outcomes and increased educational opportunities.

UC Health Plastic Surgery in West Chester offers state-of-the-art skin care and cosmetic surgery in the operating rooms at the JCAHO-certified UC Health Surgical Hospital.

In collaboration with other surgical specialties, the Division provides state-of-the-art care including breast reconstruction after mastectomy, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery following trauma, brachial plexus, weight loss, and complex wound management. The Division continues its collaborative effort with The Drake Center, Cincinnati’s primary rehabilitation hospital.

Cincinnati Plastic Surgery & Cosmetic Surgery

UC Health Plastic Surgery is a dedicated cosmetic surgery office in the suburban community of West Chester. This private practice setting provides a full range of advanced skin care, all types of facial cosmetic surgery, body contouring and breast procedures. Non-invasive procedures such as Fraxel® Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments are performed in the office and are alternatives for patients looking for a change with less downtime than after surgery.

Residency Program in Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery

The Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery residency was given full 5-year accreditation by the ACGME in 2012. The Division continues to actively participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) related to plastic surgery in our community.

Research in Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery

Members of the Division are working on research projects concentrated on improving treatment of craniofacial deformities, major burns, scarring and aging skin changes.

University of Cincinnati: Burn Surgery

The Division provides high-quality innovative care for the treatment of burns in children and adults. Expert care from the burn and plastic/reconstructive surgeons makes the University Hospital Burn Center and the Shriners Burns Hospital Cincinnati a major referral center for burn victims in the Midwest.

The University Hospital Burn Center has full monitoring capabilities for adult patients. In addition, a Burn Walk-in Center is located on the unit for the evaluation of patients with minor acute burns and/or special needs such as toxic epidermal necrolysis, soft tissue necrosis, necrotizing skin and soft tissue infections, hidradenitis suppurativa, and isolated inhalation injury.

The Shriners Burns Hospital Cincinnati is a state-of-the-art pediatric burn care facility and a tertiary referral center.The hospital contains an organized, fully staffed and fully equipped outpatient clinic, three operating rooms, postanesthesia care unit, and radiology facility. Patients are also offered an occupational and physical therapy gym, an in-house accredited school programand a six-unit family livein facility.

Both the University Hospital Burn Center and the Shriners Burns Hospital maintain their verification as specialized burn centers by the American College of Surgeons/American Burn Association. In addition to being a verified burn center, the Shriners Hospital also received status as a Magnet™ Recognized Hospital. The Shriners Hospital Flight Team is fully accredited by the Commission on Air Medical Transport.
